The “Banda Musicale Città di Varallo” is the band of Varallo, the main town in Valsesia, in the province of Vercelli. Varallo is a town full of tradition, art, faith, culture, and also particularly sensitive to music, as there was already a band 178 years ago. The “Banda Musicale Città di Varallo” is the oldest band in Valsesia, founded on 31 May 1825. It is formed by fifteen musicians who wear different kinds of uniforms, depending on the occasion.
Its repertory is wide: marches, symphonies, film soundtracks, and pop music. The band has given concerts in Varallo, in the province of Vercelli, in nearby provinces, but also in Italy and in foreign countries. The “Banda Musicale Città di Varallo” has taken part in a lot of band competitions, and it has always been extremely successful. The band is a member of “ANBIMA” (National Association of Musical Band) and in 1994 it was twined with a French group “Les Gars des Joux” of Pontarlier.
